Welcome to Steamboat Springs, Colorado

What is the Steamboat lifestyle? Ask those who came to visit but never left. Some may say it’s the cozy community with rich western history, where you know your neighbors... and their neighbors. Others may say it’s the skiing in Champagne Powder™ or the late afternoon hikes in the warm, Colorado sun.  Steamboat is a classic Colorado ski resort located in an awesome western town.  The community has deep roots in ranching and mining, but also claims a strong heritage of skiing and Olympic glory.

Whatever it is that draws folks here, it’s what makes this town. From holiday parades on Main Street and ski jumping on Howelsen Hill, the Steamboat traditions and lifestyles are out of the ordinary. It’s the hidden valley... found. Mountains surround you, the river runs right through town. The Steamboat Collection represents the Steamboat lifestyle, western, urban, hip and sophisticated and five minutes from wherever you want to be.

To live in one of the Steamboat Collection’s downtown properties is to enjoy all the amenities of a big city—easy access to great shopping, dining and cultural offerings—combined with the fun of a world-class ski resort, endless outdoor recreation and most importantly, the close-knit warmth of a historical year-round community.

The Steamboat Collection represents all the best elements of western living, urban style.

Since its founding in the 1880s, Steamboat Springs has enjoyed a rich and vibrant history. Its restorative mineral hot springs have been sought out by the Yampatikas Ute Indians, miners, ranchers and visitors alike; the expansive lands around the town have supported cattle and sheep ranches, hay and wheat production, strawberry farming and coal mining.

The arrival in 1913 of Barnum and Bailey circus performer Carl Howelsen heralded a new era in Steamboat’s history. It was Howelsen who introduced ski jumping to the area, built the town’s first ski jump and was instrumental in establishing Steamboat as a winter sport center. Howelsen Hill is now Colorado’s oldest ski area in continuous use, and celebrates his memory and lasting influence on the course of Steamboat’s evolution.

Today’s Steamboat Springs is a lively resort town with a sophisticated, decidedly western flair. The compact downtown area runs from the Yampa River to Oak Street and Lincoln Avenue from 3rd to 13th streets—it’s Steamboat’s own “miracle mile.”

More than 30 restaurants from down-home to upscale can be found in the downtown core alone, mixed in with stylish boutiques, art galleries, home furnishings, book stores and museums, and entertainment venues.
